Former ASNE executive to head Chronicle of Higher Education

The Chronicle of Higher Education Inc. recently announced the appointment of Mireille Grangenois, a former Baltimore Sun vice president in charge of advertising, as publisher beginning in late May.

Grangenois, a former director of minority affairs at ASNE, will oversee advertising for the organization´s two newspapers - The Chronicle of Higher Education and The Chronicle of Philanthropy - and its three Web sites and Arts & Letters Daily - as well as its newsletters and special reports, including The Chronicle Review.
 
She has three decades of media experience including editorial, advertising and public relations.
 
While at The Baltimore Sun from 2000 to 2007, Grangenois oversaw a 200-person sales division, and served as vice president for marketing and interactive media and as general manager of baltimoresun.com. For the past two years, she has been a managing director at Burson-Marsteller, a worldwide public relations firm, where she created a new multicultural practice serving clients such as the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, the United Negro College Fund, and Amgen, a human-therapeutics company.
 
Before joining the Sun, she was an advertising executive from 1990 to 2000: most recently at Washington Post Newsweek Interactive in Arlington, Va., and before that at The Philadelphia Inquirer. She has also been a reporter for the Sun, USA Today, and BusinessWeek.
