The fall classic between the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox was unique in that both teams were from two-newspaper cities

The Boston Globe
In Game 1, above, and Games 2 and 3, it was a traditional Globe. It devoted just the top half of the page to the game with strong photography and simple typography.

The Denver Post
The Post went with full-photo poster pages for each game with a banner done in Rockies purple, strong and playful lead headlines and multiple refer points of entry.

The Boston Globe
In sharp contrast to the first three games, the Globe had a 6-column lead photo for Game 4. It devoted nearly the entire front page to the story and shrunk its logo.

The Denver Post
For Game 4, the Post’s strong and smartly cropped photo play continued, as did its great headlines, which stood out as arguably the best of the four majors.

Boston Herald
For Game 4, the Herald brought something to the table that was unique in its market: a full wrap that would allow readers to remove the page and perhaps hang it as a commemorative keepsake poster.

Rocky Mountain News
The Rocky gave its readers two World Series covers each game – a special section (left) and a Collector's Edition (right).
